How do buyers customize products with Configura?

Sellers upload a 3D model (STL or 3MF) and define color regions. Buyers then use a shareable or embeddable link to pick colors per region, choose parts, and type custom text, all on a real-time interactive 3D preview before ordering.

Can buyers add custom names or text?

Yes. Sellers place a text zone on the model, and buyers type personalized text such as names or dates. The text is shown live in 3D and is fused into the model in the exported print file.

What 3D file formats and slicers does Configura support?

Configura accepts STL and 3MF models and exports color-segmented 3MF files that open directly in Bambu Studio and PrusaSlicer, with custom text booleaned into the part and multi-part assemblies kept as separate sliceable objects.

Can I embed the customizer on Shopify, Etsy, or my own website?

Yes. You can embed Configura on any website with a small script widget or an iframe, and it works alongside marketplaces and platforms like Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce.

Will my existing storefront still work?

Yes. Configura embeds into your existing product page or listing — on Shopify, Etsy, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Squarespace, or any custom storefront. Buyers click "customize," set up their version in 3D, then check out the way they normally would. Your listing structure, reviews, and SEO stay intact.

Will buyers actually use the customizer, or just bounce?

Buyers who reach a Configura customizer engage with it — turning it, picking colors, trying options — at much higher rates than they'd browse a flat listing image. The 3D preview is the listing in a way photos never can be. You can try it yourself in the customizer at the top of this page.

What happens after a buyer customizes & checks out?

The buyer's customization is saved as a 6-character code that comes through with their order. On stores that support cart-enabled embeds (like Shopify), it's captured automatically as a line-item property. You open the order in your dashboard, see exactly what they configured, and one-click export to Bambu Studio or PrusaSlicer. From their click to your slicer is roughly two minutes.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes — mobile is the primary buyer experience for most e-commerce traffic. The customizer is touch-optimized: one finger rotates, two fingers pinch-zoom, tap-to-paint for color regions. Performance is tuned for older phones too, not just flagships.

What if my product is too complex for this?

Configura supports single-part objects, multi-part assemblies, and part-swapping (buyers pick between alternative parts that snap to shared anchor points — currently in beta). If you're not sure which approach fits your product, reach out and we'll figure it out.

Is my STL/3MF file safe? Can I leave?

Your files are yours. We host them so the customizer can render them, but they're never shared, sold, or used to train anything. If you cancel, you can export everything — original files, customizer configurations, order history. No lock-in.

Can I try before I buy?

Yes. The Free plan gives you 1 customizer with unlimited orders — no credit card needed. Pro and Enterprise both come with a 30-day free trial so you can test slicer exports, ad generation, and the rest before committing.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. No long-term contracts, no cancellation fees. Cancel from your account settings anytime and you'll keep access until the end of your billing period.
